Why adopt a Mustang from a rescue?

You may be wondering why you should adopt a Mustang from a rescue. The answer is simple: Mustangs are special, unique, and misunderstood. Mustangs have strong spirits, will, hearts and minds that need to be nurtured by the right owner. Mustangs are often forced to deal with situations on BLM land where they have little food, water, or shelter due to overpopulation. Adopting a horse from a Colorado horse rescue organization such as Wild Rose Mustang Advocacy Group means you can help give these beautiful creatures back their dignity by providing them with adequate food, shelter, and water along with love!

Our Mustangs receive training before being adopted

Before coming to our organization, many Mustangs have spent their entire lives running free. Their instincts are to run from humans, not toward or beside them. Because of this, many potential adopters are nervous about adopting these intelligent animals. Luckily when you work with us, all of our horses have been trained previously to ensure that they are ready to be adopted and can form a lasting connection with their new human companions.

With the right set-up adopting from a Colorado horse rescue can be a great experience

If you have the right set-up, adopting a mustang can be the best thing to happen for your household. They’re beautiful and hardy animals that can fit perfectly into your life, given that you have the right environment to provide for them. Mustangs prefer large open spaces where they can run and live their lives to the fullest. If you are unsure if your home meets our requirements for adoption, don’t hesitate to reach out to us about what we are looking for.

It’s important to remember that not every Colorado horse rescue is the same, and each horse has different needs. If you’re thinking about adopting a Mustang, we hope you’ll consider working with Wild Rose Mustang Advocacy Group.

“I do not think I can fully articulate how completely enamored I am with my Mustang. I bought her in October 2017 when she had been under saddle for only a few months, and by the following summer, we were competing in recognized events. As someone who has only been in the horse world for less than four years, I was somewhat daunted by my decision to buy a green, formally-feral horse. However, being a creature selectively bred by nature to thrive under the harsh circumstance, Leda quickly proved herself to be smart, determined, and sure-footed; traits which made our journey together much smoother than I had imagined. The mustang horses are a truly special bunch, and the bonds you can form with them are like none other.
